Susan G. Komen North Florida Honored to Have Support of Judy Ford, Rally for the Cure Chairman

Susan G. Komen North Florida is honored to have an incredible amount of support from Judy Ford, an inspirational woman living in Jacksonville whose life has personally been impacted by breast cancer. Judy has been supporting Komen North Florida for years, and is an enormous advocate for breast health and education throughout our community.

In addition to giving Komen her general support, Judy has proudly stepped into the position of Chairman for Rally for the Cure. Besides thoroughly enjoying her involvement, Judy takes to heart the personal reasons that have brought her to be such an advocate.

“I Rally because I lost my best friend of 40 years to cancer. She was a breast cancer survivor but ultimately cancer invaded her body again. She was a warm, compassionate person who left behind two wonderful daughters and four grandchildren.”

Regarding her involvement, Judy continues, “the year after she died, her daughters and I walked the Atlanta 3-Day two years in a row. It was the most incredible, meaningful, inspirational experience I have ever had and it lit a fire in me to do whatever I could to eradicate this horrific disease. The two years I walked, I raised over $26,000 as an individual who found that there is no one that has not been touched by breast cancer. I walked for those that could not but wanted to be a part by donating. I never knew there were that many generous souls. I found the underlying thread of the 3-Day was kindness. It was an experience I will cherish in my heart forever.”

Susan G. Komen North Florida treasures the dedication, compassion and enthusiasm Judy has brought to our efforts in North Florida, and look forward to having her on our team for years to come. See Judy Ford’s story here.
